Het Spaanse Catastro. Wat is het? Welke informatie verkrijgt men?
Het Spaanse Catastro wordt vaak verward met het Nederlandse Kadaster. Logisch, de naam lijkt er erg op. Echter, in Spanje zijn er twee van elkaar onafhankelijke organen, het Catastro en het Registro. Het Registro lijkt het meest op het Kadaster.
 
Via het Castastro kan men een plattegrond opvragen. Men verkrijgt een situatieschets van het terrein, de grenzen met de omringende percelen en de oppervlakte die de bebouwing beslaat.  Het kan voorkomen dat de documentatie van het Registro of het Catastro een verschil laat zien ten opzichte van de werkelijke situatie. Regelmatig komt het voor dat er een gedeelte aan de woning is gebouwd dat niet is bijgeschreven in het Registro. Of dat de meters van het Catastro niet overeenstemmen met die van het Registro. Ook komt het vaak voor dat het zwembad niet wordt vermeld.

What information can be obtained from the catastro?
The catastro shows the exact location of the property. A plan of the location and the boundaries can be obtained through the catastro. The plan shows the superficies of the building within the plot.
Sometimes the information shown in the documentation of the catastro does not exactly reflect the actual situation. For example, an extension is not registered or the plan does not show the swimming pool.
If these changes are being put officially in the (new) title deed, and registered as such in the Land Registry then a modification in the catastro can be achieved.
